At a preliminary hearing Thursday, officer Douglas Trerice testified that Love had given police a bag of pills the night of October 3rd. The pills were later tested and some found to contain hydrocodone and oxycodone; authorities claimed that Love did not possess a prescription for either. Judge Elden Fox determined that there was sufficient evidence for the matter to proceed to trial.
The charges stem from an October 3rd arrest, when Love was found trying to enter the residence of ex-boyfriend Jim Barber. At the time of her arrest, police retrieved what were believed to be OxyContin and Vicodin pills. Hours after her release, paramedics were called as Love allegedly suffered an overdose.
If convicted, Love could face a maximum jail term in excess of three years. She might also be eligible for a drug treatment program.
