Coolio's Tour Van Crashes

Coolio and his Crowbar Records crew get into car crash, forcing cancellation of remaining tour dates

On their way to a show at San Francisco's The Fillmore, on June 4, Coolio and members of his Crowbar Records crew got into an automobile accident|. Several people were injured, including the Grammy Award- winning artist. Coolio and company were on tour in support of a compilation album from his new label titled Coolio's Crowbar Records Presents....


The group was driving on Interstate 5, just north of Sacramento, the night before the show, the third gig of an 18-city tour, when one of their three vans flipped over.


Six members of the crew were taken to area hospitals, while Coolio, who only received minor cuts and bruises, and other injured entourage members were treated on the scene. Coolio's drummer and keyboard player suffered severe injuries.


"My keyboard player is only 15 and now has severe hand damage," Coolio said, in a statement. "I don't know when he will play again."



Coolio has played two shows following the accident, in Los Angeles, Calif. on June 6th and Phoenix, Ariz. On June 7th, but Coolio's management has called the rest of the tour off. "This is the first time in my career I have had a near-death experience," he said, "When the van was flipping over I thought we were history." The canceled tour dates are expected to be re-scheduled, with refunds for the canceled shows available at the point of purchase. - Werner
