Coolio had already pled guilty to the charge, but changed his plea tono-contest on March 3, and he was sentenced to 10 days jail-time, 40 hoursof community service, and a disquieting order for Coolio to attend theautopsy of a gunshot victim. But, in order to avoid a "straight felony,"Coolio's lawyer withdrew the no-contest plea right before the sentence wasformally carried out, on April 13, and Coolio had to restart the judicialprocess with a preliminary hearing, to determine whether there was enoughevidence to retry Coolio. There was. Coolio pled guilty to the chargesonce again, and, apparently, has been resentenced to his 10 days ofjail-time and 40 hours community service, but, this time, with no gruesomeautopsy.
This is a recurring problem for Coolio; he was found guilty of gun possession five years ago.
But that isn't the end of Coolio's legal troubles. According to
LAUNCH.com,two members of the Wylde Bunch have filed suit against
Coolio's CrystralDragon/Crowbar Management for alleged non-payment
for their services on theCrowbar Tour. The tour was cut short,
after a week, when one of the Crowbarbuses crashed in San
Francisco. Coolio's management team claims that theymade out a
check in July, to the Wylde Bunch, for the other three weeks, even
though they weren't obligated to, and that the pair are simply
refusingto pick it up, in an effort to generate publicity. Their
legalrepresenative and CEO of World Movement Records, Lamont
Patterson, toldLAUNCH.com, "If there's money available, I don't
know of it," leaving thematter to be settled in court. -
