Blind singer/guitarist Clarence Carter is best known for his late-'60s hit singles: "Slip Away" and "Patches." His career began as part of Clarence and Calvin and the C and C Boys on the Duke label. In 1965 they joined Rick Hall's Fame Records. Calvin Scott had a car accident shortly afterward and retired, but Carter stayed with Fame, recording solo efforts and playing on sessions.
