Chumbawamba Touring Europe

Posted Nov 19, 1997 12:00 AM

Fresh off a successful U.S. tour, Chumbawamba is heading across the Atlantic to "get knocked down" for a European tour.|

The English band originally gained popularity with the anarchy set over the past 10 years by singing about the government, human rights and other social and political themes. The group, who got its name from the children's toy Speak 'n' Spell, hit the mainstream in 1997 with their Republic/Universal Records release, Tubthumper. Their smash single, "Tubthumping," is currently No. 1 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. (Ari Bendersky)
