Second Grace: The Music of Nick Drake
2007
This Nick Drake tribute is the latest in a series of piano
interpretations of rock music by the classically trained O'Riley, who previously
took on Radiohead and Elliott Smith. The playing is often daydream
beautiful, and sometimes you don't even have to listen all that closely to
make out your favorite Drake tunes. Perhaps it's even brilliant in the
minds of classical connoisseurs. But for the rest of us, this is just
slightly hipped-up Carnegie Hall stuff, fit to be dinner music or the
soundtrack to a nap.
