On The Trouble With Humans, songwriter Chip Taylor and young Berklee-schooled fiddler Carrie Rodriguez offer another thirteen old-style duets for the twenty-first century, informed by Taylor's stream-of-conscious lyrics and her twangy Texas vocals. This time out, Rodriguez sings with more confidence, and her writing forays (the plucky "All the Rain") suggest her partner's free-spirited influence. And on dusty tales such as "Dirty Little Texas Story," Taylor continues to show his classic Seventies form.
