There's plenty of pretense in the long-winded tone poems by these Radiohead-jonesing alt-metal dudes. But they also know how to deliver a concise pop song (witness the surprisingly hook-y "Brain Candle"), and their attention to detail and refusal to wallow in bad vibes keep the eight-minute "Seafrost" out of
art-rock neverland.
