Cat Power (a.k.a. Chan Marshall) has cancelled the upcoming U.S. tour behind her latest album, The Greatest, citing health reasons.

According to a statement from her record label, Matador, "information about refunds will be made immediately, and the tour will be rescheduled as soon as possible." The jaunt was slated to kick off on February 11th in Memphis.

Though unspecified health concerns have been blamed, Marshall's reputation for being uncomfortable in the spotlight precedes her. In a 1999 performance at New York's Bowery Ballroom, Marshall became so upset she turned her back to the audience and sat down on the stage to sing, with fans patting her back to console her. In 2003, however, Marshall told Rolling Stone, "I do like playing. I accept it now, and it's become my trade."

Currently, Cat Power is still scheduled to perform at two of the summer's hottest festivals: Coachella, taking place April 29th to 30th in Indio, California; and Bonnaroo, June 16th to 18th in Manchester, Tennessee.

The video for Cat Power's single, "Living Proof," directed by Harmony Korine (Gummo, Julien Donkey-Boy) -- and featuring the latex-clad singer racing around a track carrying a crucifix -- is now viewable at her Web site, matadorrecords.com/cat_power.
