(NEW YORK) - Translating domestic success into global sales has proved difficult for many Japanese artists.|

But the country's quirky pop acts Cornelius and Buffalo Daughter will give it a try this spring via releases on Matador and Grand Royal Records, respectively. The two acts hope to make inroads into the U.S. and European markets through live dates and media appearances, as well as, in some cases, videos.

Cornelius is already known obliquely to non-Japanese listeners as the producer of kitsch pop group Pizzicato 5, while Buffalo Daughter has two U.S. tours and previous Stateside release under its belt.
