Cockburn In Africa Filming Documentary

Through the use of modern technology, fans of singer/songwriter Bruce Cockburn can join him during his journey through Africa. |

Through March 3, Cockburn and a film crew will be on location in Mali, Africa making a one-hour documentary film. The film, which will air on Canada's Vision TV, will showcase the ancient culture of Mali, its people, their music and their struggle through life in the desert.

Via technology, you can follow the crew's progress as they journey from the capital of Bamako down to the fishing city of Mopti near the Niger River. The journey will wrap up in the Douentza district, making scheduled stops in Timbuktu and the Bandiagara cliffs.

Tune in to the project's website to hear daily audio updates from Cockburn and to email the crew in the desert.

In related news, Cockburn will cover "Turn, Turn, Turn" on the new Pete Seeger tribute album, titled Where Have all the Flowers Gone: The Songs of Pete Seeger. The album, slated for a March 17 release, will also feature Bruce Springsteen, Indigo Girls, Richard Thompson, Nancy Griffith and Gillian Welch. (Lana Fanelli)
