Britney Spears isn't our trashiest blonde, our worst lip-syncher or even our most dysfunctional teen-pop artist anymore (Paris Hilton, Ashlee Simpson and Lindsay Lohan, respectively, have taken those crowns). But even as haters and clear-thinking fans hope that the new mother takes a break from the spotlight, Spears still demands attention, and so last year's greatest-hits collection is followed by a seemingly even more redundant remix album. The good part: Aside from "Toxic," just about every original track is bettered here. The five other remixed tracks from 2003's In the Zone are nearly as electronic and sleazy as "Toxic" was the first time around, and Dave Aude trumps the Neptunes on his guitar-bolstered mix of 2001's "I'm a Slave 4 U." Although nothing can rescue Spears' freakishly sappy flop single "Someday (I Will Understand)," the other new track, "And Then We Kiss," brings a simpatico blend of symphonic strings and dance-rock guitars.

This isn't a "fans-only" cd quite really, but some songs do sag, like the remixes of "...Baby One More Time" and "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know," which can't be bettered no matter how many times it's altered or remixed and retouched. "And Then We Kiss" is a great electro-dance track and would for sure be a hit single. Spears works with top producers such as Jacques lu Cont in "Breathe on Me," Jason Nevins in "EArly Mornin'" and Peter Rauhofer in "Toxic." Dave Audé's guitar-blast remix of "I'm a Slave 4 U" has to be the best piece of material in here with the fast, speedened techno beat and the 2-chord guitars that blast off in the chorus. "Me Against the Music" was revised well by Justice and Bill Hamel's remix of "Touch of My Hand" just made it that much better.

i am outraged and disgusted by some of the reviews made towards britney spears. someone addressed her as a 'no talent ass clown' well lets see how much she has actually achieved throughout her career so far and ask yourself, since when has there been a solo artist to make it big globally selling out arenas all over the world, not to mention selling 1,110,000 records from her 1st album alone while 7 years later still achieving this standard in her music. this is a once in a blue moon phenominal talented young woman who not only has the ability and talent to pull off world wide, unforgetable tours but has the presense of an artist that can never be forgoton and can never be achieved by any old artist in the music business. britney spears is up on top with the best including michael jackson and modonna, she can not only draw attention to herself but does it in her own unique way which the music business is lacking these days, someone that has it all,the ability to entertain, shock and has the unique individuality that is needed to sustain a career in this business. so if i'm wrong then slap me please but you wont have to because in 20 years britney spears will still be selling those 1,110,000 records and then we'll see who's calling her the no talent ass clown.

teesharky: You do know that Britney writes most of her songs now and that she played the piano during her Onyx Hotel Tour?As for her singing?Listen to her songs "Where are you now?", "Shadow",and "Soda Pop"<--soda pop is really annoying but it def. shows off her voice

Nice album to dance to. Cool to hear new twists on old songs. "And Then We Kiss" is a great song. The production and lyrics of that song are catchy. And the "Don't let me be the last to know" remix is so much better than the original.

Hi all! I just bought the album and thought that it is satisfactory, though a album of new material would have definitely fare better (c'mmon, you'all know that Britney has always worked with the best producers!). This album tackles the genre Ms Spears has always been known of--dance-pop, but there are mixed results since not all producers here are that awesome (when it is a remix album of released ditties, it's the production that will matter the most, isn't it?). And then We Kiss, the only previously unreleased song in this album undoubtedly stand out against the rest, though not as catchy as some of Britney's biggest hits (no video for the song yet, and not much airplay, Britney's fans: keep your expectations low!). But this is not to say that the album is a flop, considering that ther are some quite pleasant dance-hall tunes to shake your booty to. Me Against The Music, Touch Of My Hand, Breathe On Me, Early Mornin' and Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know should appeal to Britney's core audience, while Toxic, I'm A Slave 4 U, Everytime, Someday (I Will Understand) and ... Baby One More Time feel so much like cheap productions. Regarding the buzz that this low profile album with no promotion, I feel that fans should give Britney's record company some response. Do you all like this way of promoting a Britney's CD or the high-profile ways? Perhaps we fans are all to acustomed to the high profile ones, assuming that we've followed the pop icon for some time now. Conclusion: This album is strictly for die-hard fans.
