(NEW YORK) - Brian Wilson is preparing to release his first solo album in a decade.|

Those close to Imagination say the set revisits the spirit of the former Beach Boys' work just prior to 1966, when his band released its seminal orchestrated pop album, Pet Sounds. Wilson sings all lead and backing vocals on the new set, tentatively scheduled for a late April release by Giant Records; among the guests contributing to the disc are Jimmy Buffett, songwriter J.D. Souther, and Beck and k.d. lang guitarist Greg Leisz.

In addition, a documentary about the making of Imagination is being compiled, with plans for a home video release and possible broadcast on VH1.
