Album Reviews
As the fifth Talking Head -- i.e. their producer -- during the artier Fear Of Music and Remain In Light days, Brian Eno introduced African styles to David Byrne, resulting in the band's merger of tribal rhythms and synthesizers. My Life in the Bush of Ghosts is their undiluted collaborative realization of a futuristic utopia, where man and machine move to the same beat. Groundbreaking use of samples (AM radio preachers, exorcism chants and birds) and drum machines are seamlessly paired with slap bass and West African-style guitar to make a better sound for humanoids.
