Brandy to Give Birth on TV

MTV series to document birth of singer's first child

Posted Jun 11, 2002 12:00 AM

Twenty-three-year-old R&B star, newlywed and expectant mom Brandy is the subject of MTV's newest reality series, set to debut on the network June 18th, roughly a month before the singer is due to give birth to a baby girl. Diary Presents: Brandy -- Special Delivery will run for four or five weekly episodes, depending on when the baby arrives, and will culminate with the delivery itself.

Brandy announced her pregnancy in February, two weeks before Full Moon -- her first album since 1998 -- hit the streets, and only three weeks after announcing that she had secretly married her producer, Robert Smith, last summer.

The MTV series will be modeled more closely on a traditional documentary than the hidden-camera, all-access carnival popularized by the network's hit The Osbournes, and will focus on the star balancing her career and the demands of family life. MTV is also in talks with Sean "P. Diddy" Combs about him doing a reality series.
