Guitarist Zakk Wylde has served as Ozzy Osbourne's sideman for nearly two decades -- long enough that his new album with longtime backing band Black Label Society sounds like a series of outtakes from a latter-day Ozzy solo album. Photos of skulls, cigar-smoking nuns and numerous devils on the liner notes suggest a take-no-prisoners thrash-metal album -- but half the songs are middle-of-the-road, synth-fueled, pop-metal mush.

I think it's a solid CD. Concrete jungle is one of the best BLS songs out there. Even the ballads are good. It's just a really great mix of heavy stuff and soft stuff. 5 stars

Maybe not as strong as the 1919, Blessed Hellride or Mafia cds. This is a good cd and deserves 4 stars. Zakk is a very talented artist and a GOD on guitar

Although I hate to admit it, I have to agree with Andy. Shot to Hell really doesn't stand up to Black Label Society standards. Unlike their last album, Mafia, Shot to Hell lacks epic tracks like Fire it up, Suicide Messiah, In this River, and more that made Mafia such great record. Shot to Hell, although not bad, is disappointing coming from BLS. It comes across as a disk that would have better to be released as b sides instead of an album.
