Album Reviews
This solo, home-recorded debut from Seattle singer-songwriter Andy Liotta tops off studied pop-rock craft with homespun charm and a big dollop of sunshine: Seventies-style piano pop with melodies upfront, plus horns and bright hooks. "Gay" (end of chorus: "And I don't mean happy") vibes Ben Folds and trains Liotta's smirk on himself, but the charming acoustic "Misery" is a stripped-down example of plain old romanticism, with some sharp accompaniment from his bandmates.
