Rappin' and Wrasslin'

Big Pun performs at Wrestlemania, The ICP quits the WWF, and The Diabolical Biz Markie enters the ring

Contrary to rumors that Big Punisher had been asked, and agreed, to wrestle| professionally, Pun won't be crushin' a lot in the ring, but, according to WWF.com, he will be performing at the WrestleMania 'Rage Party' on Saturday, March 27th. Five other acts, including Mya, will be joining him at Philadelphia's Pennsylvania Convention Center for the Wrestlemania XV kick-off party which will air at 10 p.m., Eastern time, on the USA Network. The event itself, where Pun will be sitting ringside, will air live on pay-per-view at 8 p.m., Eastern time, with tickets selling for $80.

Meanwhile, Detroit's ICP (Insane Clown Posse), who are currently working on a film, going on tour with Kool Keith, and preparing to release their next album, The Amazing Jeckyl Brothers on May 25, have quit the WWF. If you missed it, the Clowns, Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J, had been featured in various WWF telecasts, but recently cancelled their appearance on their "Rock Bottom" pay-per-view special and split with the WWF. According to the group's manager, "Their portrayal of ICP was increasingly goofy and inaccurate. They never bothered to listen to ICP's music and see what the band is really about. I don't believe they had any idea of the extreme content of the records. They just knew ICP had sold a million records so they wanted them involved."

But, while the ICP are disassociating themselves, another rapper is getting involved: The Diabolical Biz Markie. "I'm trying out for the WCW," Biz told the MTV Radio Network, "so I think, probably in seven or eight months, I should be in the WCW wrestling. I just want to be in it because I love it so much. And if I love something so much, I know I could do it. It's a challenge for me to do." In addition to his wrasslin' aspirations, Biz is currently at work on two albums and, yes, a movie. - Werner
