Back in 1996, when Beth Orton released her solo debut, the British songsmith (and erstwhile Chemical Brothers collaborator) was among the first to combine folk with synths and dubby studio effects. Thirteen years later, Trailer Park still sounds current, thanks to folktronica's ubiquity on NPR and TV dramas. Yet not every melody has remained memorable, and many lyrics are as hazy as the hallucinatory mix of the trippiest cuts. But Orton's lovesick croon still slam–dunks, particularly during the haunted opener, "She Cries Your Name." A bonus disc combines 1997's straightforward Best Bit EP with B sides; a stark remake of the Paris Sisters' 1961 ballad "I Love How You Love Me" slays with sweetness.
