Barenaked Holiday Tour

Ladies to spread glad tidings in December

Barenaked Ladies will kick off a two-week tour December 7th at the Beacon Theatre in New York. The outing comes in support of Barenaked for the Holidays, itself inspired by past holiday tours.

"It's a little Christmas, a little New Year's and a little Hannukah," singer/guitarist Steven Page told Rolling Stone of the new CD. "Some of the songs have fairly traditional arrangements, but others, like 'Jingle Bells,' have the extra lines you remember from being a kid." The band is joined by fellow Canadian Sarah McLachlan on the "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings" medley.

Perhaps inspired by the band's appearance on The Sharon Osbourne Show last year -- during which band members stripped off their clothes and jumped around the set -- Fox has ordered a pilot for a television show that would star the band. Operating under the working title The Barenaked Ladies Variety Show, the program would include a mixture of comedy skits and live performances.

Barenaked Ladies will also preview their holiday tour on TV when they drop by Live With Regis and Kelly the morning of the New York show.
