German punk rocker Campino of the band Die Toten Hosen (Dead Trousers) contributed backing vocals to the song "Raise Your Voice," which was written as a tribute to the Bad Religion cronies. Frontman Greg Graffin said the band has toured Europe with Die Toten Hosen in the past and has maintained a strong friendship over the years.
Campino flew to the United States at the request of the band, and recorded two versions of "Raise Your Voice." The German rendition, which was released there already, features Campino's vocals more prominently than the American release. The song will appear here on May 5, when Bad Religion's much anticipated new album finally hits the stores.
"This was more like our earlier albums because of the familiarity and complete absence of a schedule," Graffin said. "The result was a more spontaneous album and it relied more heavily on our musical instincts."
Bad Religion will also relive the past by staging a tour titled "It's All About the Kids." The 12-date jaunt will hit a handful of intimate venues across the nation, harkening back to small, crowd-pleasing gigs that Bad Religion played relentlessly throughout the early 1980s. (Anni Layne)
