There are only four of them now, and two are in their thirties, but they are still Boys, and they are more thoroughly bland and cheesy than ever. Like the Boys' 2005 comeback album (Never Gone — surely you haven't forgotten), Unbreakable makes small nods to adult pop, peppering the processed music with tasteful piano and light guitar riffs and keeping bright, danceable grooves to a minimum. But the material stinks worse than ever. Songs like "Something That I Already Know" are all lovelorn sentiments and giant, slick power-ballad choruses. "Trouble Is," another big ballad with a mildly rootsy groove, could actually do well on country radio, where melodrama rules, and things improve slightly when the Boys crank up the tempos on songs like "Any Other Way," a light funk rocker with a catchy minor-key tune. Still, there's just no saving "Love Will Keep You Up All Night" and "Helpless When She Smiles," the titles of which alone should give you an idea of how little the Backstreet Men have to offer.

I think it's clear that the Backstreet Boys have never had that much to offer, I mean, what do you expect? They're a boy band, they deliever catchy songs that are, yes, heavily cheesy. But I don't see why this is bad, I mean, the target audience are still fans of them after all this time. I used to like them when I was younger and this album is 100x better than the 2005 release. Their fans would love this so much and thats the main point. A man is not the target audience so clearly you'd leave a bad review which is stupid in my opinion because I know for a fact that BSB fans will really enjoy this album. The songs are catchy & similar to the old ones. It deserves at least 3 stars, 4 at a push because it's BSB at their best (almost)

Anybody who has enjoyed the Backstreet Boys music in the past will love this CD. It is chock full of catchy songs with good melodies that show off the singers good voices. I think the review is off base and this record has been underrated. I hope they release some new videos of these songs so people catch on to it.

Why would a grown man be reviewing a backstreet boys you are obviously not the target market so your opinion is really bias and invaild. If you were to ask a fan that has been following them since the early days about this cd they would tell you that this a new sound from them and it sounds amazing! The fans of the boys have grown alot since the "pop days" but dont you wonder why we always go back? Because their music is good and different not like other stuff that you cant even tell apart anymore!

You're right man. Of course a bunch of hormone crazed
women are gonna fall for the same tripe offered in a new
package each time some unoriginal love song pops up. fans
will still buy their album though, and thats what matters
most. These women want to hear original and fresh? Try bob
Dylan or Bruce Springsteen. Those are the real heroes with
class.

Wow! Hell must have frozen over because Britney's cd got 3.5 stars and BSB gets 2!?! I guess Melissa is more forgiving than Christian...

which just goes to show that music is about individual taste. i think instead of saying RS gave unbreakable a bad review, let's just say Mr. Christian Hoard does not like the Backstreet Boys or anything associated with them.

well all his hatred aside, i think this is one of the BSB best cd. it's not their best, but it's very good. the harmonies are great on the ballads, the music is soothing/catchy where appropriate, and the up-tempos get you moving. standouts are "one in a million" and "unmistakable".

unbreakable is simply great pop music!

(warning: it's not for everyone, especially guys who think they're cooler than the BSB)

3.5 stars.

I think you are out of your mind. First of all, you're a man. Why would a man review a Backstreet Boys CD? Of course you are not going to like it. What do you care if they sing about heartache, losing a loved one, etc.? Even if you did like it, what man is going to admit that they are a fan of their album?
Second of all, Unbreakable does not suck, it's not cheesey, it's actually very good. How many "boy band" artists have been around for as long as them? Not many. I think we should admire them for sticking around and fighting the "boy band" stereotype. They have been putting out music for over 10 years and fans are still buying their albums. They must not suck that bad.
I think you wrote a horrible review and it should be rewritten by someone else. I agree with the other people who wrote back to you. A man named Soulja Boy can put out a stupid song that makes absolutely no sense and he is number 1 on the Billboard charts, and the Backstreet Boys are being slammed because they don't have a creative dance or half naked women around them in their music videos. Lets all praise the Backstreet Boys for being classy with their work and not degrading or shoving their money and diamonds in our faces.

KTBSPA!

Yours Trueley,
Hilary

Christian! You're definitely entitled to your opinion, just as I'm 100% entitled and ready to disagree with it. First of all, I'm very curious as to how many times you actually listen to the album before forming an opinion about the album, and writing such a rewiew on it. Cheesy... Hmm. You may believe it to be cheesy, and that's fine. But everyone has their own taste in music, and thousands of people happen love this band.

When our favorite artists(or not) release new albums, it's very common not to start feeling for it right away. We usually have to listen to it a bunch of times before we get used to new music. In this case the sounds of the new album are somewhat familiar, but very new! Even after two years there have been significant changes in music. Keeping this in mind, I can honestly say this album is very good. The more I listen, the more I love it! Not only do the Boys look better than EVER, but this album really shows how much they've grown and what they've become. As a big fan, I've listened to all of their music for years, dealing with the yearly gaps between albums, etc. In comparison to music today, I'm proud to say they've made a decent comeback. In comparison to their previous albums, I'm also extremely proud to say that despite what people think of them(age, image, "cheesy-ness"), they came back strong, pleasing fans with the sounds of their beautiful voices.

This album is awesome. Great job, Boys! =)
