Album Reviews
On this live two-record set, Pete Seeger shares his remarkable range of feeling once again, leading concert audiences on a rousing "Wabash Cannonball," through the late Harry Chapin's "Circles" and into the seasoned optimism of his own "Precious Friend You Will Be There." Arlo Guthrie alternates musical sets with Seeger and, along with a pair of originals ("Ocean Crossing" and "St. Louis Tickle"), drives home a feisty rendition of Tom Paxton's "I'm Changing My Name to Chrysler." Guthrie even does poeticif somewhat raspyjustice to the Oklahoma bank robber of father Woody's ironic ballad, "Pretty Boy Floyd." Precious Friend is more than a collection of old folk memories. It is memory made alive. (RS 370)
