Album Reviews
As a child, Jal was abducted and forced to fight for Christian rebels in Sudan's civil war. He escaped to rap about his experiences and his faith in God, scoring an international hit with "Gua." Here he teams up with venerated Sudanese Muslim musician Salim; the couple's styles don't always mesh, but there are plenty of highlights, particularly on the solo tracks, when Jal's multilingual flow takes center stage.
