!!! (pronounced "CHK-CHK-CHK") are hip and mysterious Brooklyn scenesters, and their dark disco punk is as close to a New York sound as anything these days. On Louden Up Now, its second album, the seven-member band draws on Gang of Four, Sandinista!-era Clash and obscure European dance music, working up an often improvised jumble of rubbery beats, ice-pick guitar, synth stabs and torrents of barely audible profanity. Their politics don't run much deeper than "you can tell the president to suck my fucking dick" -- but, then, they're not asking you to do much more than dance your ass off.
